Regeneration and Tourism in Havant, Tourism in Hampshire and South East England

Dear Joy Okwuadigbo,

Portsmouth and South East Hampshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Breakfast Briefing
A New Vision for Havant Town Centre
Frank Campbell, Corporate Director, Havant Borough Council
Langstone Hotel, Hayling Island
Tuesday 12th September 2006

Following our conversation at the above meeting, during which I mentioned my wish to contribute to Havant and the surrounding area, but that I had to go outside Hampshire for business advice and assistance, I said that I had a non-engineering side to me that is worth a great deal to Havant, the region and elsewhere.

You immediately said that you wished to speak to me, had set up or were setting up, some Group to do with tourism in Havant and wished me to contribute. Regrettably, twelve months on, I have heard nothing, though there have been developments, with more to come, that are of benefit to tourism in the region.

I am aware that here have been tourism related meetings since we met last year. They would have been very opportune to discuss the books and other matters that were in development, rather than publication month and after, as now.

I would very much like to contribute and to meet as many other people as possible in the tourism industry in Havant, Hampshire and beyond.

Would you please let me know:

1) The name, title of the Havant tourism group.

2) The members of that group.

3) The names of those Havant Councillors involved with the Havant Borough Council Tourism Portfolio.

4) Your own thoughts on how I might be able to contribute to tourism in Havant and across the South of England.

5) Suitable contacts outside Havant that would be of mutual benefit.

Although there have been delays over the past few months, including computer problems, there has also been progress on several fronts, from my own point of view as well as those with whom I am involved, included unexpected turns which will enhance all of our profiles.

I am aware that my non-engineering side is very different. Actually, it has a unique aspect. That is the whole point and why so many people rate it from a business point of view. It is a great pity I had to spend longer than I should have needed to developing, it as well as involving business organisations and advisers outside Hampshire.

Regards,

Richard King
